Diamond certificates specify the exact characteristics of a given diamond. Such characteristics include the 4Cs (cut, color, carats, clarity) as well as other information such as measurements and quality.
There are numerous diamond laboratories including the Gemological Institute of America, better known as the GIA, AGS Labs, and the IGI.
