Diamond Cut should not to be confused with a diamond’s shape. Diamond cut refers to the brilliance, fire and scintillation of any diamond, as well as the diamond’s polish, proportions and symmetry.
A traditional round brilliant diamond is cut to have 58 facets.
A well-cut diamond is distinguishable by an untrained eye from a poorly-cut diamond, in which the level of light reflection is lower – and thus the diamond is less brilliant.
The GIA diamond cut grade range goes from Excellent to Poor.
